Dear Colleagues,

SDCE's virtual holiday celebration was held this week and included contests, entertaining games, and cash prizes. SDCCD leadership attended with over 150 members of the SDCE faculty, classified professionals, administrators, and students.

SDCE faculty, classified professionals, and administrators attended the CA Perkins JSPAC Annual Equity Conference: Focus on Humanizing Data, Humanizing Virtual Learning & the Humanity Approach. SDCE Rising to Success SDCEats! program continues to share information about super pantry, emergency, senior, and neighborhood food program distribution sites with students, colleagues, and the SDCE community. SDCE participated in this year's Cal Coast’s Pack the Pantry campaign, which raised over $15,000 total with over $3,000 directly from the community college fundraising links and promotional efforts. SDCE will have a portion of the proceeds to pack the SDCEats! Marketplace.

SDCE's Immigrant-based Support Program held a virtual student support seminar to explain details for transitioning to college and application for scholarships. San Diego Mesa College hosted a free seminar about Covid-19 vaccine safety and effectiveness, including the distribution plan for vaccines in the United States. SDCE students were invited to attend.

SDCE faculty member Diana Vera-Alba authored a wonderful article: Adding Licensing and Attributions to Your Work for OER for OTAN (Outreach and Technical Assistance Network). This week I attended a meeting of the NACCE Board of Directors.

Have a wonderful weekend and please stay safe.

Sincerely,
