The California Virtual Campus, Online Education Initiative (CVC-OEI) team approved SDCCE to officially join the CVC-OEI Consortium. Black Student Success Week planning at SDCCE will include a variety of activities that are open to all employees. SDCCE faculty, staff and students were invited to a Student Health Services event to help empower the Black, Indigenous and People of Color community and enlighten mental balance. SDCCE Career and College Transition Centers (CCTC) has partnered with SD Mesa, SD Miramar and SD City along with San Diego Workforce Partnership to participate in a Career Fest 2021. Student participants will have the opportunity to meet with employers and attend valuable job readiness workshops as they prepare for employment. CCTC is also reminding and encouraging students to apply for the San Diego Promise, and offering support and information to complete FAFSA applications through workshops.
SDCCE Outreach continues to distribute information about food distribution sites throughout the community. The Office of Planning, Research and Institutional Effectiveness has coordinated several current and upcoming surveys/interviews/focus groups of SDCCE stakeholders to support accreditation and planning. Survey topics include community perception and binational student project and credit-by-exam agreements with SDCCD credit colleges.
Recently I participated in a panel presentation along with Trustee Craig Milgrim in The San Diego Miramar College LGBTQ+ Alliance for education, conversation, and celebration. Also, this week I attended the HACU’s 26th National Capitol Forum online, where I met with Senator Padilla and Congress members Jacobs, Peters, and Vargas (or their designees) regarding legislative priorities for our college. He also attended the Continuum of Care Advisory Board and the Black Student Success Week Point of Contact Meeting.
Have a wonderful weekend and please stay safe!
