Faculty and staff are participating in the SDCCD Online Learning Pathways virtual guest presentations and live synchronous webinars for Open Education Resources (OER). San Diego Adult Education Regional Consortium held the quarterly meeting that included a special presentation about SDCCE's Disabilities Support Programs and Services.
Career and College Transition Centers (CCTC) held a series of resume and interview workshops and coordinated a virtual employer spotlight for students looking for available jobs in the automotive and healthcare industries. This week Stephanie Lewis, CCTC Dean and Laurie Coskey, Ed.D., SDCCE Foundation's Executive Director, met with members of the SDG&E community engagement and Innovation Center team to learn about free training programs offered by the SDG&E Innovation Center as well as opportunities for establishing deeper partnerships within SDCCE's CCTC programs. SDG&E makes an annual contribution to Gateway to College and Careers among other program supports.
I was invited to participate in a community advisory board at ABC 10News with other community leaders who have social and cultural expertise. The committee will provide insight and perspective that supports the news department. I also met with KPBS for an interview on the future of work in a post-pandemic world.
In closing, this week it was announced that I have been selected as the new chancellor for the San Diego Community College District. I am both humbled and honored to be chosen for this position. In the immediate months, I will be working closely with SDCCE's leadership team to prepare our organization for the changes that will come due to this promotion. It has been the highlight of my career to serve our noncredit institution and I look forward to your support as I step into the chancellor role.
Have a wonderful weekend and please stay safe!
