The American Welding Society’s (AWS) San Diego Student Chapter, led by Continuing Education instructor George Moore, has more than 40 members. Students learn leadership skills and the importance of giving their time to promote good causes.
San Diego Continuing Education’s welding program hosted the AWS chapter meeting to showcase Continuing Education’s state-of-the-art welding facility and program. Students had an opportunity to network with professionals, including Joe Hirscher with Stoody (an industrial welding supply company). Hirscher confirmed that steel mills are operating at 70% capacity (and growing), which is a good indicator for the economy, as steel mills have previously been idle for years. This was good news for students looking for jobs in the welding industry.
