Javier Yepez Vargas

Six years ago, Javier came to the US from Michoacan, Mexico. He only knew his numbers and colors in English, and he began taking English as a Second Language classes at Continuing Education. After one year, Javier transferred to City College where he completed an Associate degree in Chicano Studies.

From City College, Javier transferred to San Diego State University, where he recently graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree, and the designation of Summa Cum Laude. Javier also has the honor of being the number one undergraduate student in the 2011 SDSU graduating class in the School of Social Work.

“I had the Continuing Education advantage,” he says. “Continuing Education introduced me to the school system and prepared me for the higher education I received.”
