Maria Davis

My name is Maria Davis. I am from Honduras. My country has a nice tropical climate. We speak Spanish in Honduras. I decided to come to the United States to find a better life for my family. In my country the poverty is very bad. The people are not able to go to school because they can’t afford it. I lived in the mountains in Honduras where there was no electricity and water. Children died because they had no food to eat and no medical services.

My life is different here in the United States. My son goes to school. He has medical insurance and he gets a free meal at school. I’m going to Chollas school right now and I’m in a CBET class. I learn how to speak, read, and write in English. We do tutoring twice a month. This program helps the parents read to their kids. My first goal is to get my G.E.D. and to start my career. I want to be a nurse. I hope one day my dream comes true because I like to help people. My second goal is to get my citizenship and be an American citizen. I would like to thank my teacher in the CBET class Mrs. Fadavizad for her help and support.
