SDCE President Honored

I had the distinguished honor of being recognized during the Annual 79th District Community Recognition Ceremony, at the Malcolm X/Valencia Park Public Library. The event was hosted by California's 79th State Assembly district, represented by Democratic political leader Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D.

Dr. Weber’s yearly celebration honors women and men who have made significant contributions to the southeastern San Diego community, and I accepted recognition on behalf of San Diego Continuing Education (SDCE) and the work we are doing together to remain committed to social justice.

As educators, we have witnessed injustice inside classrooms and have seen first-hand, the hardships adult students in urban communities can face while working to achieve educational goals. It is an honor to be recognized by Assemblymember Weber, who is well known for her advocacy in closing the achievement gap and supporting a higher standard of excellence in education, just as we at SDCE are also deeply committed to this work.
