The annual Board of Trustees campus meeting for SDCE was hosted at the Educational Cultural Complex yesterday. SDCE’s presentation focused on Excellence in College and Career Readiness, emphasizing pathways for noncredit students. The Board had the opportunity to hear from several SDCE students and community partners.
San Diego United Way provided funding for new awards for San Diego Gateway to College and Career students. We sincerely thank the SDCE Foundation Advisory Committee Member Ian Gordon for his organization's generosity that made these awards possible.
I encourge you to attend SDCE's Annual Scholarship and Awards Event: Stars on the Rise, at the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation on Monday from 4-6 p.m. For the second year, National University has offered two full tuition scholarships for SDCE San Diego Promise students to complete the last two years of a Bachelor’s degree at no cost.
SDCE proudly announces that Jacqueline Sabanos, Vice President of Administrative Services completed the Association of Chief Business Officials Institute II. A cohort of faculty, administrators and professional staff (bringing the total number of trained employees to 115) completed SDCE's Five-Day Experiential Learning Institute (FELI), which is a professional development opportunity to help make SDCE a place where students feel welcomed, challenged, encouraged, validated, and enabled to achieve their goals.
SDCE’s campus attendance clerks and along Senior Office Managers are completing training this week to learn new registration scanning software used for attendance and enrollment reporting in support of the new Campus Solutions implementation. I attended the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship's Board of Directors quarterly meeting as well as the American Association of Community Colleges' 99th Annual Conference.
