Marina Vera

English as a Second Language
César E. Chávez Campus

Marina’s family immigrated to the U.S. in 1963. During the summer her father took the whole family to work in the fields picking grapes in Selma, California. The family managed to save enough money and bought a house in Chula Vista. She has always seen English as being her second language and every day she celebrates any new word or phrase she can learn. She finds it very rewarding to be teaching ESL to multi-cultural and multi-level students for the San Diego Community College District.
