Heike Kessler-Heiberg

Heike Kessler-Heiberg is an instructor for the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) program, teaching Cognitive Retraining/ABI and curriculum including brain anatomy and function, memory strategies, book club, drawing, advocacy, and advances in neurotreatment.

Heike has served as a consultant for a joint research project between the University of California, San Diego and Northwestern University on the neural correlates of language recovery in aphasia. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from Georgetown University, and a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from The George Washington University.

Heike emphasizes a functional, practical, and holistic approach to teach compensatory strategies and help brain injury survivors achieve goals such as going back to school, or reading a “first book” since being injured.
