Kathleen Fitzsimons

Emeritus (for age 55+)

My passion for watercolor and love of teaching led to my career as an art instructor. I started teaching art to adults and children throughout San Diego County in 1990. I began teaching watercolor for San Diego Continuing Education in 1993. For ten years I have been the coordinator of the Exhibition of Art at the San Diego County Fair, and am a member of the San Diego Watercolor Society.
I have studied drawing and painting, and have taken workshops with artists Tony Couch, Keiko Tanabe, Betty Edwards, Mona Brookes and Terry Madden (Madden Certified Teacher). I enjoy using rich fluid color, alive with light and depth of feeling. I enjoy demonstrating watercolor techniques in my class and watching my students find their own creative process. I participate in group and juried exhibitions and my artwork is collected both locally and nationally.

Mission: San Diego Continuing Education commits to student success and community enrichment by providing accessible, equitable, and innovative quality education and support services to diverse adult learners in pursuit of lifelong learning, training, career advancement, and pathways to college. read more ยป
