The New World of Noncredit
Conference on Building and Expanding Programs in Community Colleges

Save the Dates

October 6 & 7
San Diego, California

The path towards work and college transition often begins with our students’ enrollment in noncredit programs. Noncredit education is growing in California Community Colleges. Faculty, administration and staff need resources to plan, develop and grow their services, instructional programs and operations in support of our students’ success.

This conference will present best practices from our colleagues across the state in the areas of instruction, student services, institutional effectiveness and research, along with policy, finance and administration. Sample breakout sessions will be in the areas of: noncredit distance education, noncredit student services, assessment, and the Adult Ed Launchboard.

Report cover: The Past, Present and Future of Noncredit Education in California

Many colleges have begun intensive noncredit program development and expansion to determine how noncredit can meet their students’ needs. Due the equalization of funding for noncredit, Career Development and College Preparation (CDCP) programs and a statewide decline in FTES, growth for California community colleges will increasingly center upon the expansion of adult education.

In order to support our colleagues across the State, San Diego Continuing Education concluded that exploratory research would be critical in providing insight into adult education in California and support noncredit advocacy work. The result of that research is the report, The Past, Present, and Future of Noncredit Education in California.

The 2017 Noncredit Survey was distributed to all colleges VPI’s (or equivalent) on April, 24, 2017 and is due back by May 22, 2017.
