Web Server Maintenance and Security Certificate Program

Program Hours:

  • Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 12:30 pm

Background:

This NO FEE certificate program is designed to prepare you for entry level employment possibilities such as: Web Server Administrator, UNIX Administrator, System Administrator, Webmaster, Web Developer, Web Administrator and SQL Database Programmer. In earning the certificate you will be exposed to a broad range of web server skills.

Course Content:

  • Introduction to Web Servers
  • Web Server Compilation and Basic Configuration
  • TCP/IP and DNS as related to the Internet
  • Introduction to the UNIX Operating System
  • Server Side Programming
  • Basic Web Server Security
  • Web Databases
  • Web Marketing
  • Job Search Instruction

Recommended Pre-Admission Skills:

  • Have reasonable keyboarding skills.
  • Be familiar with the basics of the Internet.
  • Understand the basics of either the Windows or Macintosh Operating System (i.e. the concept of "folders" for document storage, use of the mouse, etc.).
  • Knowledge and/or previous use of a command-level operating system such as MS-DOS.
  • Previous experience building web pages with HTML.
  • Use of an FTP program to transfer files from a client to a server.

Attendance at a program orientation is MANDATORY in order to sign up for the program.
