ESL Program Information

Size of Program Large - Serves approximately 20,000 adult students a year at 6 different campuses in San Diego and numerous off site locations in the community:(Approximately 135 ESL instructors)

  • Cesar Chavez Campus ( under the Coronado bridge)
  • Centre City Campus ( Downtown, San Diego)

Student Population 23 countries represented with 100 or more students
  • Mexico - 47%
  • Vietnam - 8%
  • Somalia - 4%
Minimum Qualifications to teach See attached. Standard minimum qualifications for non-credit community college programs.
Employment positions Part time - maximum number of hours assigned per week 14.75. Contract positions rarely opened
Benefits Health insurance not provided to part time instructors at the present time.
Salary Starting hourly rate for part time instructors: Approximately $31- $37 an hour depending on education (MA, etc.)
