Power Sewing / Fashion Entrepreneurship

This course is designed for the student desiring to acquire entry level skills in sewn product manufacturing industry. Production techniques on power and home sewing equipment will be used in the classroom. Instruction in employment preparation for either the global fashion industry or starting a sewn product business will be included.

Fundamentals of Patternmaking

This course introduces the student to basic patternmaking skills used to create apparel and costumes. The course focuses on the development of garment patterns using one or more of the following methods: drafting, flat pattern manipulation, draping and beginning computer aided patternmaking. Information on copying previously made garments will be included along with guidelines for the use of a croquis for garment design.
