How to Enroll
Registration is easy. Many classes operate on an open-entry open-exit format, which means you enroll in class on the first day the class meets. This format includes a first come, first served enrollment process.
Some programs require assessment or orientation. If required, pre-enrollment or orientation will be noted in the program information. You can sign up for an orientation session by calling the Student Services office at the campus where the class meets. The contact information is listed with the class information.
Due to current statewide fiscal constraints, the number of classes offered by San Diego Continuing Education has been significantly reduced, and remaining classes are at capacity. It is likely that students may not be able to enroll in the class of choice due to these fiscal constraints, and unprecedented student demand. Please understand that reductions to the instructional program are not made without serious consideration and planning. Continuing Education apologizes in advance for any inconvenience students may experience when attempting to enroll, and encourages people to contact their legislative representative when voicing concerns.
See a class you like?
Simply go to the first class at the place and time listed and sign up. It's that easy!
It's important to show up for the first class, as low-enrolled classes may result in the class being cancelled (closed). If you miss the first class, contact the offering campus. If the class is still open and there is room you can register directly in the class.
Exceptions to in-class registration are:
- major vocational training programs require meeting with a counselor
- some computer classes require an orientation session
- short-term workshops
- classes taught online
The above types of classes may require pre registration either in-person at the campus, or by phone.
ESL Class Registration
Go to the placement office at the Campus where you wish to attend classes. You may enroll at any time. Please note that the San Diego Continuing Education Program does not issue I-20s. I-20s may only be obtained through a public or private college or through a privately owned school.
